Using Access Restrictions to limit the times of day that devices can access the Internet

ADVANCED CONFIGURATION - ACCESS RESTRICTIONS

Remember, this only affects the devices connected to the WiFiShield, devices connected to your existing WiFi will not be restricted.

 

1. Go to the router admin page by typing the WiFiShield address into the address bar. It's usually 192.168.2.1 but check your welcome email to find the 'Local IP Address'

 

2. When the control panel is shown, click on the 'Access Restrictions' Tab. You'll need to enter the username and password from your welcome email.

 

3. Policy number one will be shown, empty by default. Click on the Enable option and give the policy the name of your choice, eg "Homework".

 

4. Click on 'Edit List of Clients'. Scroll right to the bottom and in 'IP Range 01' key in 255 255 255 254 into the last four boxes so that the range is 0.0.0.0 ~ 255.255.255.254

 

5. Click 'Apply Settings' and then 'Close'. The List of Clients will disappear.

 

6. Click on the 'Deny' option.

 

7. Unclick 'Everyday' then select 'Mon', 'Tue', 'Wed', 'Thu' & 'Fri'

 

8. Under 'Times' click the 'From' option and enter 18:00 in 'From' and 19:00 in 'To'

 

9. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click 'Apply Settings'

 

Wireless access for devices connect to WiFiShield will now be disabled between 6pm and 7pm, Monday to Friday  

 

It's easy to set-up access restrictions to stop internet access when children should be doing homework or sleeping. This example sets WiFiShield up to stop all internet access for homework time between 6pm and 7pm Monday to Friday.
